Buddha said life is about suffering, I say its about learning to understand why you are suffering and why your are trying to escape from life, our duty as living breathing compressed energy is to experience life to the fullest and enjoy what we have, yes our spirit is supposedly trapped in these bodies though that is what we are.
Though the actual translation for Dukkha I could not find though I did find a lot saying it does not mean suffering, unless you find you have trapped your thoughts in a loop of disgust disgruntled rage, for centuries we keep focused on the pain and suffering of our lives but are we really that bad off, really we have everything we need right here now.
But your saying but I don’t have enough for food or bills or to buy a house, all you need is a roof over your head a veggie garden, some clothes on your back, though for most this would be suffering, it would not equate to life for them, being none materialistic for some is suffering for others to have material objects is suffering, it comes down to your perspective and what you have been brought up to believe or how to view the world.
To suffer is to put yourself in your own personal hell, to over emphasis on objects including dramas, some forms of Christianity promote hell is were god sends you if your bad, as you are your own god you are the one suffering for yourself, you suffer in silence and blame what you think is an all knowing entity, we know that there is more to life than just us, there is a higher being, but it is only a consciousness that live in and outside of us observing not judging.
To suffer is to be trapped in ones own mind or world, the external influences do not trap your being, though some people get themselves into these positions and suffer immensely for there decisions, find there stuck in a situation, this is especially true when others are involved and you feel like you need to help them, but they are quite capable of helping themselves, though then there are circumstances where you have to help them.
Basically suffering is about circumstance, your thoughts and your perspective.
